Behind the Scenes with Cupcake After Dark

By now, you’ve probably heard that Cupcake DownSouth has a new line of After-Dark flavors. These alcohol-infused cupcakes have been a hit, so we wanted to take some time to tell you a little more about them.

The After-Dark line was actually inspired by the popularity of alcohol-inspired cupcakes that Cupcake DownSouth has featured in the past. The first alcohol-inspired cupcake was the Guinness cupcake for St. Patrick’s Day. This has been a popular item year after year, and, don’t worry – it’s not going anywhere and may even be enhanced come this spring.

Another flavor that was alcohol-inspired was the Bourbon Pecan Pie, a customer favorite! This flavor is now one of our official After-Dark flavors and is infused with actual bourbon inside of a vanilla cake. It’s topped with butterscotch icing and rolled in chopped pralines.

The first flavors to launch were Blackberry Mojito, Beer & Pretzels, & Spiked Apple Pie. Each month, new flavors are introduced, and the majority of alcohols used come from local breweries and distilleries.

Flavors available in December are Blackberry Mojito, Bourbon Pecan Pie, Chocolate Caramel Moonshine, and Spiked Apple Pie. In addition, Mudslide just became available beginning December 1st! And coming December 22nd, customers will be able to try the newest flavor, Sparkling White Chocolate Cranberry — just in time for New Year’s!
