Did you catch Cupcake on News 2 last night in the Charleston area? Among the news of famous bakery “Crumbs” closing its doors, News 2 was on a mission to see if the cupcake craze is over.
Lucky for us, it’s just the beginning!
The story reports:
“The store “Cupcake” on King opened in 2006 in the middle of the sweet frenzy, when birthdays, weddings and just an afternoon snack was celebrated with a cupcake. Owner Kristin Cobb said business here is still booming.
“We’re still having our heyday, we’re always coming up with new flavors and new ideas and reinventing the wheel,” Cobb said. “With ‘Cupcake’, it’s your little indulgence so we don’t really see that much, but in saying that we have started a new delights line which is a lower fat, lower sugar and we have one flavor every day in our delights line.”
Cobb said their cupcakes like bourbon pecan pie, red velvet and praline help sales with tourists looking for southern flavors.”
